Crimes Committed Most
Woman in the medieval times were vital to the society, but they didn’t have equal rights. Society didn’t identify them as citizens, so your position in society would depend on your father or your husband. This created a problem when woman were suspects of a crime because they were not given equal rights. To make matters even worse, men held every position in society, leading to no female opinions in defending accused women. The crimes that woman would obligate during this time period, mainly had to do with their simple needs. If a female was not yet wedded or had no income of any kind, they would then resort to illegal activities. These unlawful doings were common crimes, such as, petty theft, but the most common crime for women was prostitution.
Punishments
When a woman was sentenced of a crime, their punishment was usually showed for the town to see. They would then be openly punished for everybody in the town to see, the form of the punishment would depend on the crimes they committed. In cases where the crime was severe, the woman would be hung at the gaols as a discouragement for other woman to commit the same crime.
